Streamline Care Coordination with the

Active Care Relationship Service® (ACRS®)

Imagine a world where care coordination is effortless and a patient’s entire care team has real-time access to the crucial information they need, without the hassle. Enter the Active Care Relationship Service® (ACRS®), a revolutionary tool eliminating information silos and enhancing care coordination.

ACRS cuts through the fragmented landscape of traditional healthcare communication. It acts as a central hub, establishing clear lines of sight between all the providers involved in a patient's care. No more wondering who's in the loop or waiting for critical updates to trickle down. With ACRS, everyone remains informed, engaged, and ready to deliver coordinated, high-quality care.

Sharing Newly Reconciled Patient Medication Lists Arising from Established Workflows

The fragmented nature of the U.S. healthcare system, coupled with limitations in patient medication recall, unreported over-the-counter (OTC) use, and other potential discrepancies, makes accurate medication reconciliation a considerable challenge.

Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) are uniquely positioned to overcome these obstacles due to their robust infrastructure built for secure and comprehensive data sharing.

Learn more about implementing a two-pronged technical framework to optimize medication use safety and outcomes across Michigan in a whitepaper co-authored by Allen Flynn, PhD, PharmD and James Stevenson, PharmD, FASHP of University of Michigan and Isabell Pacheco, DSc, FACHE, of MiHIN.

CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule

CMS-0057-F

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) finalized the CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule (CMS-0057-F). The rule builds on the foundation of the CMS Interoperability and Patient Access rule and requires that health insurance plans, including Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans, are required to implement and maintain FHIR-based APIs to improve the electronic exchange of health information and streamline prior authorization, provider access, and payer to payer exchange.

The Final Rule will reduce the burden on patients, providers and payers, saving approximately $15B over 10 years.

If you have questions on how the Final Rule may impact your organization, please reach out to Shreya Patel, Chief Policy and Privacy Officer at shreya.patel@mihin.org.
