Electronic Case Reporting (eCR)
Electronic case reporting (eCR) enables immediate feedback from public health to healthcare about reportable conditions and possible outbreaks. There are currently more than 100 conditions that can be reported using eCR. This real-time exchange of information is critical to support public health and is an example of data exchange for true public benefit.
If a sending organization (hospital/health system/practice, etc.) has completed their HSTR registration, they are considered in Active Engagement under the program’s reporting requirements (Option 1).
Definition of Terms Active Engagement: Means that the eligible hospital or CAH is in the process of moving towards sending "production data" to a PHA or clinical data registry (CDR), or is sending production data to a PHA or CDR.
Active Engagement Option 1: Completed Registration to Submit Data: The eligible hospital or CAH registered to submit data with the PHA or, where applicable, the CDR to which the information is being submitted; registration was completed within 60 days after the start of the EHR reporting period; and the eligible hospital or CAH is awaiting an invitation from the PHA or CDR to begin testing and validation. This option allows eligible hospitals or CAHs to meet the measure when the PHA or the CDR has limited resources to initiate the testing and validation process. Eligible hospitals or CAHs that have registered in previous years do not need to submit an additional registration to meet this requirement for each EHR reporting period.

CMS issued the Calendar Year (CY) 2023 Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) proposed rule that announces and solicits public comments on proposed policy changes for Medicare payments under the PFS and other Medicare Part B payment policy issues. A variety of topics from national interoperability, prescription drug monitoring program, and more are covered. MiHIN will be submitting feedback on areas impacting our Participant Organizations.
